Today I pass back to Mandie who is sharing her thoughts in the second book in the Maggie Jamieson series by Noelle Holten, Dead Wrong. I’ve previously reviewed the book but for those of you who missed and and don’t know what the book is all about, here’s a little bit more info:

About the Book
The serial killer is behind bars. But the murders are just beginning…
DC Maggie Jamieson’s past comes back to haunt her in this dark and gripping serial killer thriller.
Three missing women running out of time…
They were abducted years ago. Notorious serial killer Bill Raven admitted to killing them and was sentenced to life. The case was closed – at least DC Maggie Jamieson thought it was…
But now one of them has been found, dismembered and dumped in a bin bag in town.Forensics reveal that she died just two days ago, when Raven was behind bars, so Maggie has a second killer to find.
Because even if the other missing women are still alive, one thing’s for certain: they don’t have long left to live…
Mandie’s Thoughts
This is the second book in the Maggie Jamieson series and in this one we really get to know the Detective a little bit better. After really enjoying Dead Inside I have been looking forward to reading this and seeing where Noelle was going to take her characters this time.
When the body of a woman is found, Maggie must revisit a case that took over life and question if she arrested the right person. Maggie is convinced she was right the first time and it is this conviction that puts her at odds with both her team and her superiors.
Maggie is a confident person and she is quite often blinkered to other possibilities that also see her going against procedure to prove her point. That being said she does have a good relationship with acting DS Nathan Wright and he seems to know exactly how to handle her, allowing her some leeway but always pulling her back if it looks like she is in real danger of damaging her career. By the end of the book I had certainly warmed to her as you got to know her outside of the police station and what made her tick.
Raven is definitely a dark and twisted character who certainly knows how to push Maggie’s buttons at every turn, and I found that I was never always as sure as Maggie that he was guilty of the murders or not. Clearly, he is guilty of something but as to what that is you really need to read the book to find out as I am not going to spoil it for you.
When I get to start at the beginning of a series its always interesting to see if the next book is going to hold your attention as much as the first one did and if you could read them as a stand-alone. The answers to both these questions is absobluminlutely and with an ending that has you wanting to reach for book 3 almost straight away what’s not to love. Noelle Holton is quickly becoming a must read author for me with her next book already on pre order.
