About the Book

A lawsuit, an ex-husband, and a hotel full of men. Just another crazy day in the life of a single mom…

Tasha Gerome tries to find the funny side of her everyday disasters. It’s just about the only thing that gets the single mother of twins through her chaotic life. Well, that and a comfy pair of piggy slippers. But not everyone appreciates her brand of humor…

Her deadbeat ex-husband certainly doesn’t get her jokes as he returns to town to bother her and the twins. A well-known doctor threatens her with legal action over a misunderstanding. And her mother is more concerned with Tasha’s single status than her humor, dragging her kicking and screaming back into the dating game…

One thing is for certain. Fixing her legal troubles, getting rid of her ex, and finding a new man will take a whole lot of laughter… and a little help from her family…

My Best Mistake is a down-to-earth women’s fiction novel that celebrates a single mother’s courage and comedy. If you like sweet romance, snarky humor, and characters who tell it like it is, then you’ll love Carole Wolfe’s hilarious tale.

Mandie’s Thoughts

Tasha Gerome is just trying to make the best of her life. After winning the lottery and splitting up from her husband, she is trying to raise her 2 children the best way she can, but she has zero organisational skills which leads to a very haphazard existence. Her mother is always trying to organise her life, her sister doesn’t agree with her life choices and her ex is still causing as much trouble as he can.

I have to say I liked Tasha, she seemed normal. Despite having lots of money from her lottery win, her life was as much as mess as anyone else’s. She didn’t have all the answers and she got easily distracted. I loved the idea of her pig slippers that oinked when she walked, and I so want some. All the characters were believable, and I took to most of them even meddling mom), with the exception of the ex…. well there has to be at least one character you dislike in a book otherwise it gets a bit boring.

At the beginning it looks like Tasha is very much the doormat, allowing others to dictate what she does and when, but with the support of her extended family she eventually finds the courage to stand up for herself and do what makes her happy.

There was plenty of humour throughout the book that had me smiling and kept me reading. Tasha’s attempts at speed dating were quite funny especially when she changed her style from mum next door and she went from being invisible to getting loads of attention. They say you cant judge a book by its cover but in the world of speed dating clearly the cover has to be really appealing otherwise you wont even take a look. Thankfully even Tasha saw the funny side to the whole situation.

My Best Mistake is a quick read but one well worth picking up as you won’t get bored, and if nothing else it will show you that maybe your own family isn’t as bad as you think.
