The Christmas Wish by Tilly Tennant @TillyTenWriter @bookouture @mgriffiths163 #guestreview #blogtour

Today I hand things back over to Mandie who has a blog tour review of Tilly Tennant’s The Christmas Wish. Thanks to Noelle Holten of Bookouture for inviting us to join the tour. Here is what it’s all about.

TCWAbout the Book

Christmas is coming but it doesn’t feel that way for Esme. Jilted by her cheating fiancée Warren and mourning the death of her beloved grandmother she’s determined not to let life beat her and books a trip to Lapland, on a holiday that her grandmother had always dreamed of taking.

Beneath the indigo skies of Lapland, love is the last thing on Esme’s mind but she can’t ignore a spark with Zach, a broodingly handsome actor, also nursing a broken heart. But when Esme is bombarded by messages from Warren promising he’s changed and she discovers that Zach is hiding something-will her head be turned? And when a trip to the northern lights reveals the full extent Zach’s own secret past is there any hope that Esme will get the happy ending that her grandmother wished for her?

When her relationship with her fiancé Warren falls apart Esme Greenwood goes to the one place she knows she can try to heal her broken heart – her grans. Just as she is finally getting her life back together, tragedy strikes and suddenly her ex-fiancé is back on the scene and you find out why they had split in the first place. When Esme caves and agrees to go back to him I could have cheerfully throttled her and its not long before he is back to his old controlling ways. In what looks like a moment of self-preservation she decides to take the trip to Lapland that her gran had booked for them. Going alone she knows this is what she would have wanted and Esme sees it as a way of honouring her memory.

While on the trip she meets Zach, Hortense and Brian who like Esme are making the journey alone for their own reasons. An unlikely group they seem to get along most of the time and provide quite a few chuckles along the way. Hortense is certainly larger than life and barrels over all of them at one point or another. Her developing relationship with Brian sees them either at each other’s throats, or acting like love sick teenagers, which is amusing and cringe worthy in equal measure. Zach clearly has his own secrets that the author doesn’t reveal until much later but he does give Esme very mixed signals throughout the book.

Now I will admit that I am not a huge fan of Christmas but I did love this book. Whilst it is undoubtedly going to put the reader in the mood for Christmas with the setting of Lapland and Santa’s village (yes even me..christmasphobe that I am.. would still love to go to Lapland and take in the whole experience) this actually takes second place to the actual story.  Tilly Tennant has managed to tell a heart-warming story about people coming to terms with their relationships and taking those steps that will put them in a better place whilst not being over sentimental in the process.

For fans of Tilly Tennant and her books this is definitely one that should be added to your collection

If you would like a copy of the book, it is available now from the following Amazon.

About the Author

ttTilly Tennant was born in Dorset, the oldest of four children, but now lives in Staffordshire with a family of her own. After years of dismal and disastrous jobs, including paper plate stacking, shop girl, newspaper promotions and waitressing (she never could carry a bowl of soup without spilling a bit), she decided to indulge her passion for the written word by embarking on a degree in English and creative writing. She wrote a novel in 2007 during her first summer break at university and has not stopped writing since. She also works as a freelance fiction editor, and considers herself very lucky that this enables her to read many wonderful books before the rest of the world gets them.

Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn was her debut novel; published in 2014 it was an Amazon bestseller in both the UK and Australia. In 2016 she signed to the hugely successful Bookouture and is currently working on her next Tilly Tennant novel. She also writes as Sharon Sant, where she explores the darker side of life, and Poppy Galbraith, where things get a little crazier.
