owdAbout the Book

If only falling in love was as easy as baking a cake…

Ama’s loved baking ever since she can remember. Desserts, cakes, cookies – anything sweet, delicious and sinful. The kitchen is the only place where she can be truly herself.

But – as she starts work on the biggest cake she has ever made – for a couple’s magical winter wedding – she realises just how much she secretly dreams of falling in love too.

Then she meets a handsome man on a motorbike who sets her pulse racing. But Ama knows it can never be. Because he’s her very traditional parents’ absolute worst nightmare… And she knows she can never let them down.

Do her family know best? Or can she trust her heart? And, as the snow begins to fall, will she ever find out what really does go into the recipe for true love?

The perfect feel-good winter romance for 2018 for fans of Debbie Macomber, Jenny Colgan and Jenny Hale.

Tessa, Natalie and Ama run Wedding Bells, a one stop shop for weddings. Still in the early days of the business you get the feeling that they are at the make or break stage of the venture.

Tessa is the event planner and head organiser. Secretly in love with Blake their contractor and silent business partner you have to admire how despite the most awkward of clients (in the form of the bride and grooms mothers) she still manages to keep calm and slowly get the bride the wedding she really wants. I loved her determination to make the business a success even down to taking on extra work for her former boss even if it means having food flung all over her by unruly children. It’s only in her personal life that she doesn’t seem to be able to quite so organised and forthright.  Natalie and Ama are also dealing with their own dating dilemmas with their families determined to have a say in who they should see.  It was quite amusing to see that Ama’s father had created a profile for her on a dating website in the hope of finding her a nice respectable suitor even if ultimately he was not the right one for her. You also had to feel for her whilst she struggled to do what her family wanted whilst still trying to be true to herself

One Winters Day is the second book in the series. Normally you would find that the focus would be on one particular person and in that respect this book is different as no one character takes centre stage. For me that made a nice change as it enabled me get invested in the story as I wanted to find out if they would manage to keep the business going and also find happiness with the men they meet especially as I had not read the first book in the series (although I plan to rectify this so that I can find out what happened between Tessa and Blake). This is definitely one to read in the run up to Christmas to get you in the mood for the festive season.

If you would like a copy of the book for yourself, it is available now from the following retailers:
