Can four pictures really sum up my week? Well, if I'm being honest they come pretty close. Reading, paperwork, sunny skies and traffic jams. That's what I've been up to. The sunny skies makes a nice change. Well ... not a change exactly, it's becoming quite repetitive now, but hey - we mustn't complain. So [...]

My second #Bookvent choice of the day is part of the long running and fabulous #DCIRyan series. The reason this story stuck out for next was the introduction of a new character that would change everything, especially for one of our best loved series couples. TheMoor by @ljross_author sees Ryan and co investigating murder within a circus community. Their main witness is someone they definitely weren’t expecting. . The circus is in town… When a ten-year-old girl turns up on DCI Ryan’s doorstep to tell him she’s witnessed a murder, he has no idea he’s about to step into his most spellbinding case yet. The circus has rolled into Newcastle upon Tyne, bringing with it a troupe of daring acrobats, magicians, jugglers—and one of them is a killer. Ryan and his team must break through their closed ranks to uncover a secret which has lain buried for eight years, before the killer strikes again – this time, to silence the only living witness… Murder and mystery are peppered with romance and humour in this fast-paced crime whodunnit set amidst the spectacular Northumbrian landscape. . #bookvent2019 #booklove #lovebooks #books #bookblog #bookblogger #bookblogging #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookworm #bookshelf
Today is another double #bookvent day. Two books- one author. The first is the first book in a new series featuring DR Alexander Gregory. #Impostor by @ljross_author sees Gregory invited to Ireland to help investigate a series of grizzly murders in a quiet town that have the local police baffled - as well as being suspects! Thrilling, atmospheric and highly addictive it’s a natural choice. . There’s a killer inside all of us… After an elite criminal profiling unit is shut down amidst a storm of scandal and mismanagement, only one person emerges unscathed. Forensic psychologist Doctor Alexander Gregory has a reputation for being able to step inside the darkest minds to uncover whatever secrets lie hidden there and, soon enough, he finds himself drawn into the murky world of murder investigation. In the beautiful hills of County Mayo, Ireland, a killer is on the loose. Panic has a stranglehold on its rural community and the Garda are running out of time. Gregory has sworn to follow a quiet life but, when the call comes, can he refuse to help their desperate search for justice? Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced thriller set amidst the spectacular Irish landscape. . #bookvent2019 #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookblog #bookblogger #bookblogging #books #lovebooks #booklove #bookworm

Today’s #Bookvent choice is from one of my favourite authors, one I can rely upon for a cracking crime story wrapped up in Fargo-esque dark humour. #LittleSiberia by @anttituomainen shows that you don’t (quite) need to be hit by a falling star for it to still be deadly. Emotional and thoughtful but able to move from ewww to teehee in no time flat, I loved it. . A man with dark thoughts on his mind is racing along the remote snowy roads of Hurmevaara in Finland, when there is flash in the sky and something crashes into the car. That something turns about to be a highly valuable meteorite. With euro signs lighting up the eyes of the locals, the unexpected treasure is temporarily placed in a neighbourhood museum, under the watchful eye of a priest named Joel. But Joel has a lot more on his mind than simply protecting the riches that have apparently rained down from heaven. His wife has just revealed that she is pregnant. Unfortunately Joel has strong reason to think the baby isn’t his. As Joel tries to fend off repeated and bungled attempts to steal the meteorite, he must also come to terms with his own situation, and discover who the father of the baby really is. Transporting the reader to the culture, landscape and mores of northern Finland Little Siberia is both a crime novel and a hilarious, blacker-than-black comedy about faith and disbelief, love and death, and what to do when bolts from the blue – both literal and figurative – turn your life upside down. . @orendabooks #bookvent2019 #booklove #lovebooks #books #finnishnoir #helsinkinoir #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookblogger #bookblog #bookblogging
Today I’m sharing my #booksontour review of @carolwyer’s #TheBlossomTwins. The latest book in the #NatalieWard series it’s the most emotional yet and a complete game changer. The ending left me shell shocked. Needless to say it’s bagged a red hot read badge too! . Their parents thought they were hiding… One beautiful summer’s evening, thirteen-year-old twins Ivy and Erin Westmore snuggle down in a tent in their back garden, giggling and sharing secrets. When their mother goes to wake the girls the next morning, their tent is empty. The alarm is raised and Detective Natalie Ward is put onto the case. When the twins’ bodies are discovered on nearby marshland, covered with deep pink petals, an icy shiver travels down Natalie’s spine. Everything about the girls’ deaths reminds her of a horrifying case she worked on earlier in her career, which saw a killer of the worst kind placed behind bars. The next day, that feeling is heightened when she receives a chilling note saying ‘I’m back’. Is this killer a copycat or did Natalie put the wrong person in prison all those years ago? In a small town, where no stranger goes unnoticed, what is Natalie missing? Consumed by the case, determined to prevent more deaths, Natalie misses the fact that it is her attention the killer wants. And to get it, he has his sights set firmly on her precious daughter Leigh… Gripping, fast-paced and nail-bitingly tense, this book will keep you flying through the pages long into the night. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and Karin Slaughter. . @bookouture #booklove #lovebooks #books #bookshelf #amreading #bookblogger #bookblogging #bookblog #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #redhotread 🌶
Today’s #Bookvent selection ups the ante on the high action thrills. Book thirteen in the #CharlieFox series, @authorzoesharp’s #BadTurn sees Charlie striking out in her own a personal protection gig for one of the countries top arms dealers. Featuring action, fast paced drama, thrills and some cracking characters (love Schade) this series is fabulous. . One bad turn…deserves another. Charlie Fox has quit her job in close protection, been turned out of her apartment, and is apparently out of options. House-sitting in rural New Jersey has to be the pits—TV and TV dinners. A far cry from Iraq... Bulgaria... Afghanistan. Unlucky or not, she happens to be around at the right time to foil a violent kidnap attempt on Helena, wife of billionaire arms dealer, Eric Kincaid. Kincaid offers her a job looking after Helena. The rumours about Kincaid’s business empire say he’s gone over to the dark side, but Charlie is in no position to be fussy. And protecting people against those who want to do them harm is what she’s good at. But when the threats against the Kincaids escalate, and then follow the couple over to Europe, Charlie’s really going to have to up her game. It’s time to take the fight to the enemy. Charlie’s at her best putting an end to trouble. Now she must learn to strike first. And hope that the Kincaids don’t discover the secret she’s been keeping from them, right from the start. . #bookvent2019 #booklove #lovebooks #books #bookworm #thriller #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bookblogger #bookblog #bookblogging
