#Bookvent – Celebrating my top reads of 2017

Day seventeen of #bookvent is a book which just snuck in at the last moment and to be honest, I’m kind of glad. This is one of my favourite series of all time, blending the criminal and the supernatural; the everyday with something a little more … out there. With a flawed protagonist who is trying to do his best for his daughter while searching for justice against a power which goes beyond all that man can see, this book took the series back to the elements which first attracted me to it and had me racing through the first thirteen books in next to no time. My seventeenth #bookvent pick is …

#Bookvent – Celebrating my top reads of 2017

The sixteenth day of #bookvent is part of a series which has had an amazing amount of success in the past eighteen months. Featuring a fearless female Detective Inspector, since the very first case she has made a stir in the Metropolitan police, never afraid to say what she is feeling or to step on others toes. Never one to let procedure stand in the way of catching a killer, she has seen people she loves hurt as a result and in this book in particular, this seems to come back to haunt her more than ever. My sixteenth #bookvent pick is …

The #Bookvent Calendar 2017: Day 15

#Bookvent – Celebrating my top reads of 2017

My fifteenth #bookvent pick is one which is based upon a true story and which tackles a very harrowing and yet socially relevant subject. The book, and the tragic story upon which is was based, was the subject of the very first Written in Blood episodes and I don’t think that anyone watching it could fail to have been moved by the story which unfolded. This book combines both emotion and action in a brilliant tale featuring one of crime fictions favourite detectives. Shining a light on the very real, very disturbing idea of the ‘honour killing’, my fifteenth #bookvent pick is …

Review: Christmas At Carol’s by Julia Roberts @JuliaRobertsTV

Today I am delighted to be sharing with you my review of Julia Roberts’ lovely festive novella, Christmas at Carol’s. The book is released on 18th December, just in time for Christmas, and I’d like to thank the author for providing an advance copy for review. I’ll share my thoughts with you in just a moment, after we’ve taken a look at what it’s all about.

XmasAtCarolsCoverThe Official Book Blurb

An uplifting tale of people’s desire to help each other in the season of goodwill – a romantic comedy with a twist in the tale.

Carol fell in love with Wisteria Cottage the moment she laid eyes on it and moved in two weeks before Christmas hoping it would be start of a new more positive period in her life.

On her first night in her new home she discovers an old Christmas card to someone called Annie with a heart-breaking message inside from Jake.

Although she doesn’t know them, and despite being on a self-imposed dating break herself, Carol begins planning how she can bring them together, while her new neighbour, Sally, is attempting a bit of matchmaking of her own.
