Book Love (1)

I am delighted to welcome Joanne Robertson from My Chestnut Reading Tree to Jen Med’s today to help me share a little more #booklove. Jo runs one of my favourite blogs, celebrating a wonderful mix of books. Before we find out which is these have made her top book choices, let’s find out a little more about Jo.

About Joanne

JRHi my name is Jo and I love reading which is why I set up My Chestnut Reading Tree in February 2016 so I could share my thoughts about the books I read with the world! I read mainly crime and psychological thrillers but I also love women’s fiction.. basically I just love a good story and will review most books apart from sci-fi or horror. I am a working mum and nana and I spend the little free time I have curled up with copious amounts of tea, chocolate and a (hopefully!) good book. I always leave reviews on Amazon (where I am now a Top 500 reviewer) and on Goodreads. I am happy to review both ebooks and real books in my preferred genres.

You can follow Jo on her blog My Chestnut Reading Tree, Twitter and Facebook

Childhood Sweetheart
Favourite book from childhood

Carbonel by Barbara Sleigh. I adored this book when I read it in junior school and last year managed to buy two copies for myself. One had the original cover I remember and the other was an updated cover. I’m reading it in instalments to my eldest granddaughter at the moment.

First love
The first book you fell in love with

Jilly Coopers Riders. The first book I ever wanted to sleep with under my pillow as I couldn’t let go of it!

Biggest book crush
The book character you’re totally in love with

Hmmmm, I’m a bit fickle and fall in love with characters in books very easily so I have a few!!! But my favourite ones are Jamie Fraser from the Outlander books (it’s that Scottish thing for me again!) And Josh Derwent from Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan series, i would leave my grumpy Scotsman for either of these two!

Weirdest book crush
Well… duh

Not weird but I have a huge girl crush on Lori Anderson from Steph Broadribbs Deep Down Dead.

Hardest break up
The book you didn’t want to end

Two recently and both Scottish. Sewing The Shadows Together by Alison Baillie and The Sewing Machine by Natalie Fergie. It’s pure coincidence they both have sewing in the title!

The one that got away
The book in your TBR or wish list that you regret not having started yet.

I still haven’t read any Chris Carter books and I have a few on my TBR pile!

Secret love
Guilty Reading pleasure

I do love a little saucy romance especially anything by Laurelin Paige! Her books will set your kindle on fire!!!

Love one, love them all
Favourite series or genre

Oh God so many!!!! Tess Gerritsens Rizzoli and Isles series, the Erika Foster series by Robert Bryndza, the Justice series by Mel Comley and Lisa Gardner’s DD Warren series

Your latest squeeze
Favourite read of the last 12 months

I’ve loved so many this year! It’s like asking me to pick my favourite grandchild!!!! So I’m choosing 4! The Dry by Jane Harper, An Act of Silence by Colette McBeth, The Honeymoon by Tina Seskis and Ice Lake by John A Lenahan. Think yourself lucky I don’t have 10 grandchildren just the four!

Blind date for a friend
If you were to set a friend up with a blind date (book) which one would it be?

Flowers for the Dead by Barbara Copperthwaite. Everyone needs to experience this book!

Greatest love of all
Favourite book of all time.

Forever Amber by Kathleen Winsor is a book I’ve loved since I was 16 and read again every year just for the pure joy of its familiarity!

Thanks Jo. Some absolutely amazing choices there. And another vote for Flowers for the Dead. I’m going to have to move that up the TBR. And I can understand your girl-crush on Lori. She’s a pretty fierce lady.

What do you think folks? Can’t believe Jo’s a Granny can you? But what about her book choices. A pretty wider range of genre love there so any suggestions that you think Jo should add to her OTT to be read list?

Do join me later in the week when I have more #booklove to share, this time from the lovely Meggy of Chocolate ‘n’ Waffles blog.

Have a brilliantly bookish day all
