Today I’m joined by blogger Sharon Bairden of Chapter In My Life to share a little #booklove. Before we delve into Sharon’s secret love and weirdest book crush, here is a little bit about the person behind the blog.
My name is Sharon and I have an obsession – with books! I read daily and on average devour 2/3 books per week (more if time permits). In particular I love Crime/thrillers/police procedurals.
I started my blog for a couple of reasons, I wanted somewhere to store my reviews and thoughts on the books that I love, I want to offer support to all the fantastic authors out there – reviews REALLY do make a difference, so whether it’s a one word review or a page please show your support for the work that all the authors put in to producing a product that gives us so much pleasure! and of course I want to spread the word about all the books I love – I want to make people read more!
Favourite book from childhood
As a young child it has to be Enid Blyton and The Faraway Tree – those books captured my heart and enthralled me for hours and fired my imagination!
The first book you fell in love with
Agatha Christie: Sparkling Cyanide was the first “grown up” crime fiction book that I read and it set me on a journey that has led to blogging and a love of crime fiction and all things #bookish
Biggest book crush
The book character you’re totally in love with
OMG I’m such a book tart! Seriously one character – are you kidding! I will narrow it down to three for you then! 1. Davie McCall from Douglas Skelton’s series (Blood City; Crow Bait; Devil’s Knock and Open Wounds); 2. DI Damen Brook (from Steven Dunne’s Reaper series) 3. DI Jake Flannagan from David Videcette’s The Theseus Paradox and The Detriment
Oh and 4 – Kenny O’Neill from Michael J Malone’s Beyond the Rage and Dog Fight!
Told you I was a book tart!
Weirdest book crush
I’m saying nothing about who my weirdest crushes are! They may be characters; they may be real but be sure if I have a crush on them they are weird! #WeirdIsGood
Hardest break up
The book you didn’t want to end
Sealskin – Su Bistow – probably the most beautiful and captivating story I have ever read!
The one that got away
The book in your TBR or wish list that you regret not having started yet.
Probably most of them – I have a massive TBR that keeps on growing but right now the one niggling away at me is Craig Robertson’s Murderabilia…..that cover! That series!
Love one, love them all
Favourite series or genre
Scottish Crime Fiction without a doubt! We have some of the best authors in the world up here!
Your latest squeeze
Favourite read of the last 12 months
Michael J Malone: A Suitable Lie – outstanding read and challenges a lot of misconceptions out there about domestic abuse!
Blind date for a friend
If you were to set a friend up with a blind date (book) which one would it be?
Blue Wicked by Alan Jones – one of my best friend’s hardly gets the time to read and she really needs to read more (if she wants to stay as my friend!) She’s quite posh but has a really gritty and dark sense of humour and I think Blue Wicked would appeal to her and kick start her reading!
Greatest love of all
Favourite book of all time.
That’s like asking me to pick my favourite child! You are bad! I’m going to go with The Catcher in the Rye as it just clicked with me as a teenager and I stole it from school! But seriously I’m picking that today – ask me tomorrow and I’ll pick something else!
Thanks Sharon. Some absolutely cracking selections there. And who knew you were such a Scottish Crime fiction aficionado? 😉 I’d agree that The Catcher In The Rye is a great book and totally with you on Murderabilia. I absolutely must get that fluffing book read!
What do you think guys and gals? Do you agree or disagree that Sharon is a book tart? (I can’t comment – I had three picks myself 😉 ) Join me this weekend when Mary Grand spills the beans on her #BookLove.
Have a fabulous day all
